A trio of local taverns will soon be joined by a fourth outpost.

Towne Tavern Hospitality Group is preparing to open its newest location, Towne Tavern & Tap, at 175 N Bedford St in East Bridgewater. The new eatery will replace Ye Olde Standish Grille, a longstanding local favorite which will officially close its doors on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Founded in 2021 by husband-and-wife team David and Tori Barry, Towne Tavern & Tap originally debuted in North Attleborough. Since then, the family-run restaurant has grown to include a second Towne Tavern & Tap in Wareham, along with Towne Tavern & Treehouse—a cozy waterfront spot in Pembroke featuring a fireplace and treehouse-style seating.

Celebrated for its broad New American menu, Towne Tavern serves everything from chicken tenders and New England clam chowder to steak tips, burgers, tacos, and pizzas. The venue also boasts an extensive drink selection, offering a variety of beers, wines, and both classic and creative cocktails.

David told What Now Boston that while he plans to carry over many fan favorites, the new restaurant will also introduce a few fun, yet-to-be-revealed dishes. Additionally, he’s hoping to bring the group’s popular Sunday brunch into the mix.

“It’ll be a continuation of our brand itself, just stepping into the East Bridgewater market,” David explained.

The Towne team expects to close on the N Bedford St property in the coming weeks, with renovations—including bathroom additions and new furniture and equipment—set to begin shortly after. If all goes according to plan, Towne Tavern & Tap will open its doors early this fall.

In an online poll conducted by The Enterprise of which restaurant makes the best margarita in the Brockton area, Fiesta Mexican Restaurant in East Bridgewater won with 45.34% of the vote, or 209 votes. Avocados Mexican Cuisine in Stoughton came in second with 36.23% and 167 votes.

Created in 1938 in Mexico, the margarita typically consists of tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Weather you order it straight up, on the rocks, frozen or shaken, there’s something for everyone.

WEST BRIDGEWATER — Mineiros The Steakhouse will soon be bringing delicious traditional Brazilian food and more to West Bridgewater.

"Mineiros are so excited to open our doors and offer what we have — which is the best," said co-owner Thaisa Pena.

Pena, of East Bridgewater, and Cledir Ferreira, of Bridgewater, have owned Mineiros The Steakhouse at 371 Union St. in Rockland for seven years.

They had plans to expand, and when they saw a location available at 269 North Main St. in West Bridgewater, they decided to go for it.

Pena said they wanted to be near the highway, Brockton and the Bridgewaters, and thought the location was "amazing, with plenty of parking."

"I felt the area needed a steakhouse/family restaurant," she said.

What's on the menu?

Mineiros The Steakhouse offers a buffet-style setup where customers can choose what sides they want and pick their favorite grilled meats.

You'll find all the traditional Brazilian foods in the buffet with a wide variety of options to satisfy any craving, including fluffy white rice, seasoned black beans, farofa (a traditional Brazilian side dish), fried plantains, grilled vegetables, fresh salad ingredients and homemade desserts.

After filling your plate with side dishes at the buffet, you can then choose from an assortment of tasty grilled meats, including picanha (a Brazilian favorite), garlic sirloin, pork sausage, sirloin or chicken wrapped with bacon, chicken wings, and more. Grilled pineapple is also available.

All-you-can eat Brazilian rodizio

The restaurant also offers a Brazilian rodizio, which is an all-you-can-eat dining experience with waiters bringing a variety of grilled meats on skewers repeatedly to your table, allowing you to sample the different cuts of meat until you're full.

“Our goal is not only to open a business, but to feed people with good, fresh, delicious food," Pena said.

"Our chefs cook all day long," she said, "so the food is always fresh."

"We make all our sausage and desserts in house, too," she said.

You'll also find classic cocktails and traditional Brazilian drinks, like caipirinha, made with fresh lime, simple sugar and Brazilian rum, and Cozumel, a cold beer cocktail made with fresh lime juice and salt on the rim of the glass.

What can customers expect at West Bridgewater restaurant?

The West Bridgewater location will have more dishes and a larger buffet than the Rockland restaurant, according to Pena.

"We plan to have 20 buffet items and 20 meat choices," she said.

And the meat will be cooked on a charcoal barbecue, so it will be smokier and tastier, Ferreira said.

American favorites like New York sirloin, ribeye and T-bone steaks will be served, along with chicken, hamburgers, fish, pasta and more.

The restaurant's decor will be similar to Rockland's. When you walk into the Rockland steakhouse, you'll get an authentic country-western feel, especially when you see the horse saddle on the wall above the hostess station.

"This is how it is back home," Pena said, "We want to bring that country feeling to West Bridgewater."

When will the restaurant open in West Bridgewater?

Mineiros The Steakhouse at 269 North Main St. in West Bridgewater plans to open by mid-April, according to Pena.

"We are working very hard to open as early in April as possible," she said.

Mineiros The Butcher Shop

Pena and Ferreira opened Mineiros The Butcher Shop at 365 Union St. in Rockland, next to the restaurant, about five years ago.

"People were always asking where we get out meat and sausage, so we decided to sell that, too," she said.

"We really try our best to serve the best food," Pena said.

EAST BRIDGEWATER — A new restaurant has just opened in town, and it's serving up a delicious array of options to satisfy any craving with a homey vibe. Whether you are in the mood for a hearty breakfast or lunch, you will find it all at Nanda's.

That's because Nanda's Restaurant, located at 225 Bedford St., in the Carriage Crossing Shopping Center, is cooking up a wide selection of homemade breakfast and lunch classics and more.

"It's all made from scratch and fresh," Manager Laryssa Gervasio, of Bridgewater, said. "You can tell the difference between what is fresh and what isn’t. You can tell our food is fresh with the first bite."

Laryssa credits her father, Alex Gervasio, who is the owner and cook, for the delicious food. She said her father has been cooking for at least 30 years and is amazing at his job.

"My dad has blessed hands when it comes to breakfast foods," she said. "He's great at breakfast."

Her mother, Fernanda “Nanda,” namesake of the restaurant, and her brother, Gabriel, also work at the restaurant. "It's a family affair," she said.

Laryssa's parents are from Vitoria, Brazil, but they never met until they both were working together at the same diner in Weymouth more than 20 years ago. Together, they went on to open the Grill and Eye Breakfast in Weymouth about 16 years ago.

According to Laryssa, Nanda's food menu is "huge."

"We offer all different types of food, we have something for everyone," she said.

Customers can choose from classic egg dishes, stuffed omelets, sizzling burritos and skillets, fluffy pancakes, eggs Benedict, antioxidant-rich acai bowls, sandwiches, grilled steak, soup and more.

Specialty drinks and unique and fun dishes like a Brazilian-style acai bowl, Mickey Mouse-shaped pancakes and The Viking Special are also on the menu.

Both breakfast and lunch dishes are served all day. “You can come in at 6 a.m. and get a burger or come in at 3 p.m. and get eggs,” Laryssa said.

While you are dining there, they hope you get a "homey vibe."

"We want customers to feel like family," she said. "It’s really nice to go to a restaurant where they remember your name. We want to be that restaurant."

The menu offers a wide selection of options, including omelets stuffed with a variety of cheeses, vegetables and meats, eggs Benedict, sizzling burritos and breakfast skillets, fluffy pancakes, waffles topped with whipped cream and fruit, and other classic egg dishes.

Chicken wings, sandwiches, subs, burgers, steak, fish, and soup are also available.

Beverages include coffee and tea, espresso, cappuccinos and lattes, hot chocolate, coconut water, smoothies and milk shakes.

Elvis Pancakes

Elvis pancakes, made with chocolate chips, peanut butter and banana, is a customer-inspired creation on the menu. Elvis pancakes started at the Weymouth diner, when a regular customer, who was always talking about Elvis, requested them.

"We thought it was a good idea, so we put it on the menu," Laryssa said. "My dad is always willing to accommodate special orders, and we love hearing feedback from our customers."
