Choose Granite Countertops in Middleborough, MA for Elegance and Durability

Granite Countertops in Middleborough, MA: The Natural Choice for Durability and Versatility
Granite is one of the most popular natural stones in the market. As an igneous rock, the granite you're considering was once molten. It was formed as it cooled inside the earth. It is quarried from the mountains of Italy, the U.S., India, Brazil, China, and dozens of other countries around the world. Here at Granite World, we are passionate about this high-quality natural stone and recommend it for a variety of installation purposes, such as kitchen countertops, floors, and other surfaces that undergo heavy usage.
Minerals within the granite look like flecks and are what give it the classic "salt and pepper" look. Other types have veining similar to marble. Generally speaking, granite is a dense-grained, hard stone that can be highly polished or finished in a variety of ways depending on your family's needs. A broad spectrum of colors is available to match the color palette and feel of your home.
What Makes Granite Counters So Popular?
Granite is a highly durable and attractive option for kitchen countertops, floors, table tops, and exterior applications like cladding and curbing. It is available in a range of colors and has been rated as the best overall performer among kitchen countertop materials by a leading consumer magazine.
Unlike synthetic surfaces, granite is incredibly resistant to scratches and heat damage. It is also highly resistant to bacteria and does not get affected by substances like citric acid, coffee, tea, alcohol, or wine. Even with regular use, granite does not stain easily and is almost impossible to scratch. If you want to enhance your granite's resistance to staining, our team can provide you with more information about sealants available on the market.
Granite World Pro Tip
When it comes to granite countertops, high-end options often equate to unique patterns and enhanced durability. However, a higher price doesn't always guarantee better quality. 3 Timeless Ways to Complement Your Granite Countertops in Middleborough, MA
If you are looking to add a touch of elegance to your kitchen, granite countertops can be a great option. With their intricate patterns and wide range of colors, they can transform a bland cooking space into a bright and merry room. However, since granite counters often steal the proverbial show, it can be tricky to design your kitchen around them.
Keep these easy design tips from the Granite World team in mind once you settle on the color and application of your granite counters:
1. Granite Countertop Decor
Keeping your kitchen looking tidy and organized requires avoiding cluttering your countertops with too many items and decorations. However, you can still enhance the look of your kitchen by adding a few carefully selected decorative items. If your granite countertops have specks of bright colors like green or purple, you can try using appliances, flowers, or decorations in those colors to make the specks in your countertops stand out. This will add a pop of color to your kitchen and elevate its overall appearance.
2. Cabinet Color
Brown, tan, and gray hues are all very popular color choices for granite kitchen countertops. As such, it's wise to choose a cabinet color that complements the natural tones of your countertops. That way, you can avoid creating an overwhelming look in your space. A warm white or a deep, moody color can be used to highlight the beauty of the countertops. If you prefer stained cabinets, pick a shade that matches the colors of your countertops.
3. Floor Pattern
Having a bold pattern on both your countertops and your floors can make your kitchen look cluttered and overwhelming. If you have granite kitchen countertops, it's a good idea to opt for a simple floor design. Choosing a plain tile or wood floor is usually a safe and practical choice.
Quartz Countertops: Elegant Design and Easy Maintenance
Quartz is a type of igneous rock that is made up of oxygen and silicon atoms in a continuous structure of silicon-oxygen tetrahedra (SiO4). It is one of the most abundant minerals on the planet and has been used in the production of kitchen and bathroom countertops for many years. Much like granite countertops in Middleborough, MA quartz is an excellent option as it is highly durable and requires minimal maintenance.
Why Do Homeowners in Massachusetts Love Quartz Kitchen Counters?
When it comes to stone choices for your kitchen countertops, quartz ranks among the best choices available. But why? Let's find out.
Beauty
Quartz countertops have become increasingly popular in kitchens, and for good reason. They are designed to imitate the everlasting beauty of natural stone, providing a wide range of captivating colors and patterns. Whether you prefer the sophistication of marble or the simplicity of solid colors, quartz offers endless options to match your preferences. With professional installation services from Granite World Inc., quartz kitchen countertops can effortlessly enhance the visual appeal of any room.
Durability
As a homeowner, you're probably aware of how quickly kitchen countertops can get worn out. Luckily, quartz is a material that can withstand the daily rigors of wear and tear – even if you have kids. That's because quartz is a unique blend of natural quartz crystals, resins, and pigments, making it a highly durable surface. With quartz countertops, you don't have to worry endlessly about scratches or stains ruining the beauty of your kitchen. It is a highly resistant material, making it an ideal choice for busy kitchens and bathrooms that see a lot of activity. In fact, its scratch, stain, and heat-resistant properties make it perfect for everyday use.
Easy Maintenance
It can be frustrating to spend your weekends cleaning and maintaining your countertops. However, by choosing quartz countertops, you can eliminate one task from your to-do list. Quartz surfaces are non-absorbent, meaning that liquids won't seep in, and bacteria won't be able to breed. If there are spills, cleaning them up is as easy as wiping the surface down with a mild detergent and water. There's no need to spend hours scrubbing, buffing, or polishing. As an added bonus, you won't have to worry about sealing your countertops regularly, as you would with granite or marble.
Granite World Pro Tip: Is quartz tough? Yes. Is it indestructible? Unfortunately, it is not. Quartz is a surface that can be damaged permanently by exposure to strong chemicals and solvents that can weaken its physical properties. You should avoid using products that contain trichloroethane or methylene chloride, such as paint removers or strippers. Also, stay away from any highly aggressive cleaning agents like oven or grill cleaners that have high alkaline and PH levels.

MIDDLEBORO — Beth Israel Deaconess Plymouth is set to open a new multi-specialty medical care facility in Middleboro this March — in the same location where Compass Medical abruptly closed last May, Beth Israel announced in a written statement.
The new facility, which will be located at 8 Commerce Blvd., will open for primary care services on March 1, with urgent care and several specialty services set to open later in the year.
"We are pleased to welcome Beth Israel Lahey Health to Middleboro,” Town Manager James McGrail said in the written statement.
“Many people in Middleboro and nearby communities were affected by the Compass Medical closure and we are grateful that a healthcare practice will provide a new and important resource for residents,” he said.
Same location as former Compass Medical
Beth Israel Deaconess Plymouth’s new Middleboro facility will open at the location previously operated by Compass Medical.
“BID Plymouth is committed to expanding access to our model of delivering compassionate care in the community, and this is an exciting opportunity to serve Middleboro and the surrounding towns,” said Kevin Coughlin, President of Beth Israel Deaconess Plymouth (BID Plymouth).
“We look forward to opening our doors to serve patients later this spring.”
Update on former Compass locationSignature Healthcare opening new facility in East Bridgewater at old Compass Medical
When did Compass Medical close?
Compass Medical — a Quincy-based chain of medical clinics and urgent care facilities with locations in Easton, East Bridgewater, Taunton, Quincy, Braintree and Middleboro — abruptly closed all six offices last May, discontinuing services for more than 70,000 patients.
The closures came after Compass Medical was ordered to pay more than $16 million in damages to Steward Health Care System for fraud after a partnership between the two companies turned ugly, the Patriot Ledger reported.
Compass Medical had initially sued Steward for more than $80 million in damages, claiming that Steward had breached a services agreement by failing to pay bonuses to its doctors and rent for equipment and office space.
However, a Suffolk County jury rejected all of Compass Medical’s claims, finding instead that it had committed fraud against Steward and awarding the Dallas-based company the damages it sought.

Back in October, Signature Healthcare announced it was opening a new multi-specialty medical facility in the old Compass building on Route 18 in East Bridgewater.

MIDDLEBORO — After existing less than a year as a brick-and-mortar restaurant, The Local Eatery in Middleboro announced via social media that it was abruptly closing.
“We have some sad news to share. Effective immediately, we are closed for business. We have appreciated the support over the past year very, very much,” the restaurant posted on Facebook on Nov. 20. No reason was given for the closure.
The Gazette reached out multiple times to the owners of The Local Eatery through phone, email and Facebook, but no one responded as of Wednesday afternoon.

Prior location of Battistini's Bakery
Located at 16 Wareham St., in Middleboro, the space itself was previously Battistini’s Bakery before it shut down in mid-2022.
Buzz-worthy menu
The Local Eatery was named as such due to the owners of the restaurant’s dedication to sourcing as much of the ingredients from local farms as possible.
“We love to source the best produce by offering the right produce for what is in season. We frequent local farmers markets and local produce purveyors too,” said Destiny Smith, co-owner of The Local Eatery, back in March.
Its menu consisted of such things as salads, tacos, sandwiches and wraps, rice bowls, breakfast items, homemade potato chips, and pastries, made from scratch in-house, from basics to adventuresome options.

What about the Local Motion Food Truck?
The restaurant was a spin-off of Local Motion Food Truck, based in Lakeville. Smith told The Gazette back in March the decision was made to expand to a building space because it is difficult to operate a food truck in the winter.
“We knew we needed to expand into a space where we could operate year-round business and have the truck in operation in addition during the spring, summer and fall,” said Smith.
Nothing was said on social media on what this closure means for the food truck.
The restaurant was going to share building space with Harper Lane Brewery, which is slated to open a taproom and brewing operations there, according to its social media.

MIDDLEBORO - Middleboro neighbors are devastated after a fire ripped through a home on Pearl Street Saturday morning and claimed the life of a young girl.
"It's tragic. It's terrible, absolutely terrible," neighbor Brianna Smith said.
Firefighters attempted to rescue the girl, but were unable to get inside because the fire was too intense. When the fire was put out, the girl was found dead inside. Her name and age haven't been released.
"I started bawling my eyes out crying because it's a tough situation, because I have three children, and I just saw her playing in the street yesterday," neighbor Maria Trefouliaris said.
Heavy smoke and fire were pouring out of the first and second floor when firefighters first arrived. There were still people trapped inside.
One woman was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious burns and a man and another girl were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
Brianna Smith lives in the house next door. She said fire crews work feverishly to keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes.
"I ran outside and saw the house next door to me was engulfed in flames. It very happened fast. It went from one window being on fire until the whole house went up," Smith said.
Several firefighters from surrounding towns quickly responded.
On Saturday afternoon neighbors came by leaving flowers and offering prayers and hope for the family. Neighbors also say this is a stark reminder for families to check smoke detectors and review fire escape routes.
"I just told my husband on the phone, we need to do a fire safety plan. When I was younger my house caught on fire," Trefouliaris said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Allison Ferriera
Middleborough Clerk
New Massachusetts Law
In 2017 a new public records law went into effect in Massachusetts imposing strict requirements and deadlines on the public records request process. Agencies and municipalities must permit inspection, furnish a copy of a requested public record or deny a request in writing within 10 business days and are required to centralize the process by designating a Records Access Officer (“RAO”). Additional requirements include strict adherence to a list of 18 exemptions when denying a request, providing public records requests to a requester in electronic format, and if a requester prevails in a court action against an agency or municipal RAO, the court may award the requester attorney fees or costs.
The Town of Middleborough was seeking a public records management application that would help them not only comply with the new law but also make the process of responding to records requests more efficient. The Middleborough Town Clerk (and newly designated Records Access Officer) Allison Ferreira, Town Manager, and Information Technology Director evaluated several options and unanimously agreed that NextRequest was the best option and received Town Meeting approval to purchase the NextRequest application.
Compliance and Efficiency
With NextRequest, Middleborough has streamlined the public records request process for both the Town Clerk and all their municipal employees who act as custodians of records as dictated by the Municipal Retention Schedule provided by the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Staff are automatically notified when they are assigned to a request and are reminded about the request as its due date approaches. Ferreira previously needed to track the status of all requests and send out reminders herself – now she trusts that staff are automatically notified when they need to take action. Staff save time by leveraging templates created by Ferreira that cover all common responses to a request, including each of the 18 exemptions.
Ferreira’s already high expectations were exceeded by NextRequest. “It truly has streamlined the process more than I could have ever hoped for,” she says. “Not only does this application allow our staff to be more efficient in responding to requests using NextRequest, but the public is also finding the information they need more easily as well. The phone is ringing less and more people are going to the portal and finding what they need,” says Ferreira. All this has been done without placing a burden on the municipal employees. NextRequest trained 50 Town employees for the Town of Middleborough who all quickly adapted to the new system. “The portal is very easy to use and doesn’t add to our employee’s workload which is important.” says Allison.
Hands on Customer Support
During the period before the Middleborough’s NextRequest portal went live, NextRequest worked closely with Ferreira to customize the system to be compliant with the new Massachusetts public records law and match Middleborough’s existing processes. NextRequest has stayed in close touch with Middleborough to help them get the most out of the software. “We have constant customer support,” say Ferreira. “This is not the case with most vendors, but NextRequest is different.”
