Granite Countertops in Falmouth, MA: The Natural Choice for Durability and Versatility
Granite is one of the most popular natural stones in the market. As an igneous rock, the granite you're considering was once molten. It was formed as it cooled inside the earth. It is quarried from the mountains of Italy, the U.S., India, Brazil, China, and dozens of other countries around the world. Here at Granite World, we are passionate about this high-quality natural stone and recommend it for a variety of installation purposes, such as kitchen countertops, floors, and other surfaces that undergo heavy usage.
Minerals within the granite look like flecks and are what give it the classic "salt and pepper" look. Other types have veining similar to marble. Generally speaking, granite is a dense-grained, hard stone that can be highly polished or finished in a variety of ways depending on your family's needs. A broad spectrum of colors is available to match the color palette and feel of your home.

What Makes Granite Counters So Popular?
Granite is a highly durable and attractive option for kitchen countertops, floors, table tops, and exterior applications like cladding and curbing. It is available in a range of colors and has been rated as the best overall performer among kitchen countertop materials by a leading consumer magazine.
Unlike synthetic surfaces, granite is incredibly resistant to scratches and heat damage. It is also highly resistant to bacteria and does not get affected by substances like citric acid, coffee, tea, alcohol, or wine. Even with regular use, granite does not stain easily and is almost impossible to scratch. If you want to enhance your granite's resistance to staining, our team can provide you with more information about sealants available on the market.

Granite World Pro Tip
When it comes to granite countertops, high-end options often equate to unique patterns and enhanced durability. However, a higher price doesn't always guarantee better quality. At Granite World Inc., we provide raw materials from the top distributors available. Visit our showroom in Harwich, Massachusetts, and consult with one of our associates to find a granite that fits your needs and budget.
3 Timeless Ways to Complement Your Granite Countertops in Falmouth, MA
If you are looking to add a touch of elegance to your kitchen, granite countertops can be a great option. With their intricate patterns and wide range of colors, they can transform a bland cooking space into a bright and merry room. However, since granite counters often steal the proverbial show, it can be tricky to design your kitchen around them.
Keep these easy design tips from the Granite World team in mind once you settle on the color and application of your granite counters:

1. Granite Countertop Decor
Keeping your kitchen looking tidy and organized requires avoiding cluttering your countertops with too many items and decorations. However, you can still enhance the look of your kitchen by adding a few carefully selected decorative items. If your granite countertops have specks of bright colors like green or purple, you can try using appliances, flowers, or decorations in those colors to make the specks in your countertops stand out. This will add a pop of color to your kitchen and elevate its overall appearance.

2. Cabinet Color
Brown, tan, and gray hues are all very popular color choices for granite kitchen countertops. As such, it's wise to choose a cabinet color that complements the natural tones of your countertops. That way, you can avoid creating an overwhelming look in your space. A warm white or a deep, moody color can be used to highlight the beauty of the countertops. If you prefer stained cabinets, pick a shade that matches the colors of your countertops.

3. Floor Pattern
Having a bold pattern on both your countertops and your floors can make your kitchen look cluttered and overwhelming. If you have granite kitchen countertops, it's a good idea to opt for a simple floor design. Choosing a plain tile or wood floor is usually a safe and practical choice.
Quartz Countertops: Elegant Design and Easy Maintenance
Quartz is a type of igneous rock that is made up of oxygen and silicon atoms in a continuous structure of silicon-oxygen tetrahedra (SiO4). It is one of the most abundant minerals on the planet and has been used in the production of kitchen and bathroom countertops for many years. Much like granite countertops in Falmouth, MA quartz is an excellent option as it is highly durable and requires minimal maintenance.
Why Do Homeowners in Massachusetts Love Quartz Kitchen Counters?
When it comes to stone choices for your kitchen countertops, quartz ranks among the best choices available. But why? Let's find out.

Beauty
Quartz countertops have become increasingly popular in kitchens, and for good reason. They are designed to imitate the everlasting beauty of natural stone, providing a wide range of captivating colors and patterns. Whether you prefer the sophistication of marble or the simplicity of solid colors, quartz offers endless options to match your preferences. With professional installation services from Granite World Inc., quartz kitchen countertops can effortlessly enhance the visual appeal of any room.

Durability
As a homeowner, you're probably aware of how quickly kitchen countertops can get worn out. Luckily, quartz is a material that can withstand the daily rigors of wear and tear – even if you have kids. That's because quartz is a unique blend of natural quartz crystals, resins, and pigments, making it a highly durable surface. With quartz countertops, you don't have to worry endlessly about scratches or stains ruining the beauty of your kitchen. It is a highly resistant material, making it an ideal choice for busy kitchens and bathrooms that see a lot of activity. In fact, its scratch, stain, and heat-resistant properties make it perfect for everyday use.

Easy Maintenance
It can be frustrating to spend your weekends cleaning and maintaining your countertops. However, by choosing quartz countertops, you can eliminate one task from your to-do list. Quartz surfaces are non-absorbent, meaning that liquids won't seep in, and bacteria won't be able to breed. If there are spills, cleaning them up is as easy as wiping the surface down with a mild detergent and water. There's no need to spend hours scrubbing, buffing, or polishing. As an added bonus, you won't have to worry about sealing your countertops regularly, as you would with granite or marble.
Granite World Pro Tip: Is quartz tough? Yes. Is it indestructible? Unfortunately, it is not. Quartz is a surface that can be damaged permanently by exposure to strong chemicals and solvents that can weaken its physical properties. You should avoid using products that contain trichloroethane or methylene chloride, such as paint removers or strippers. Also, stay away from any highly aggressive cleaning agents like oven or grill cleaners that have high alkaline and PH levels.

BREWSTER, MA — Rest easy, Cape Cod, it's once again ok to eat cake for breakfast.
The beloved Brewster bakery Eat Cake 4 Breakfast has been sold to new owners who will reopen the space after Danielle Nettleton announced in October 2024 that she'd be putting it up for sale.
Commercial Realty Advisors announced that Nettleton completed the sale of the business to Massachusetts siblings Tara, Tori and TJ Nelson on May 6.
"We’re a family with a love for delicious pastries, coffee, and bringing people together," the group said in a recent social media post announcing the news. "Stepping into this amazing space is truly an honor, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to carry on a brand that already means so much to so many."
They also gave a nod to Nettleton, who cultivated a devoted following during her years running the business.

"A huge and heartfelt thank you to Danielle, the original owner and creative force behind Eat Cake 4 Breakfast. Your vision, passion, and hard work built something incredibly special, and we’re committed to honoring that as we step into this next chapter," the Nelsons said.
Already, new ownership has answered a couple of questions, including if the Brewster Bun will be coming back — yes — and, as of this week, an opening date.
The bakery will celebrate its grand reopening on June 12 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 26 Wampum Dr. location.
What Prompted the Sale?
In a Facebook post from October, Nettleton explained that she'd be putting the business up for sale to raise her daughter closer to family in Connecticut.
"I knew this would be our last summer, and I know I haven’t been forthcoming with everyone, but as we all know the rumor mill on the Cape can be a whirlwind and I didn’t want this news to effect business," she wrote. "I know this will come as quite a surprise for many of you; it is truly bittersweet, because as so many of you have said to me, the time with our babes flies, and I don’t want to miss out on any of the moments with Scout after working so hard to have a baby."
Describing the bakery as a longtime dream realized, Nettleton said nothing was more fulfilling than helping other create memories.
"Nothing made me happier than hearing how much Eat Cake meant to you and your loved ones. And now it’s time for me to make the memories with mine," she said.
Under Nettleton's stewardship, the bakery highlighted classic French pastries with a Cape Cod twist, and had been open for nearly a decade in Brewster.

This summer, a taste of Paris will be on the menu in Falmouth, as the local cafe Mornings in Paris is opening its fourth location in the town center.
Mornings in Paris operates two European-style cafes in Kennebunk and Ogunquit, also offering items at the Goose Rocks Beach General Store in Kennebunkport. Maintaining a local model while taking inspiration from France, all the businesses’ pastries are baked in Ogunquit, with the coffee roasted in Kennebunk.
The original Mornings in Paris was located on Exchange Street in Portland but closed in 2013. In 2017, now-owners Paul and Katelyn Humphrey bought the remaining Kennebunk location after moving to Maine from England and transitioning from the corporate world to entrepreneurs. Paul is originally from London, and Katelyn grew up in Kennebunkport.
“I came over in the summer, and I saw Kennebunk’s fall in its glory, the sun out, tourists. And I thought, this could be fun,” said Paul Humphrey.
After operating the Kennebunk location for several years, the couple began slowly expanding across the region. Falmouth came to mind as its next location, as the Humphreys’ children got to know the community through sports. They also thought that some Falmouth residents would remember the original location in Portland.
The growth of Falmouth’s town center as a gathering place was a draw for the Humphreys as well. With the new The Wyeth luxury condo buildings and other new restaurants such as Sapporo and Cafe Luna across the street, the Humphreys anticipate the growth of the area.

“I could see there’s a real kind of list of independent businesses here, and it’s a community. I like towns where there’s a community, and with the town trying to make this more of a town center, it really kind of speaks to our type of business where people come and sit and stay,” said Paul Humphrey.
The Humphreys plan to open the cafe in Falmouth Village this July, if all goes according to plan. Menu offerings will include French crepes made to order, macarons, petit fours and the notably un-French but popular bubble tea.
The cafe will have 50 indoor seats as well as some outdoor tables. Unlike the highly trafficked Starbucks next door, Paul said he wants Falmouth’s Mornings in Paris to serve as a community hub for customers.
“I think having things like actual proper porcelain cups will encourage people to come down, sit here, spend a bit of time, just enjoy being with humanity,” said Paul Humphrey.
The Humphreys also want to focus on hiring Falmouth-area residents and students to keep the business close to home. They plan to get involved with the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce and sponsor local sports teams and events, as they have in other towns where their business operates. Overall, they pride themselves on having a community focus, as demonstrated by the popularity and social integration of their other locations.
“I think it becomes people’s mainstay,” Paul Humphrey said, “and that’s why we have lots of people who come and meet their friends, the same friends every morning for their cup of coffee.”

CAPE COD, MA — As the summer season approaches and Cape Cod communities prepare for an annual surge in visitors, Outer Cape Health Services has walk-in care available across its three health center locations in Provincetown, Wellfleet and Harwich Port.
Access to care is critical during the summer months, when Provincetown and surrounding communities see a surge in residents, seasonal workers and visitors — and a corresponding rise in minor injuries and health concerns.
“We treat a range of injuries and illnesses, from sunburns and respiratory issues to bike accidents and dog bites, particularly in Provincetown,” said Heather Duncan, Physician Assistant at the OCHS Provincetown Health Center. “With crowded streets, protective gear including helmets is crucial for bike riders. Another issue we see on a weekly basis is dog bites. Considering Provincetown’s dog-friendly environment, many residents and visitors are out with their pets, and in busy areas, dogs can easily become overexcited.”
All three OCHS locations offer walk-in services during weekday hours.
The Provincetown Health Center provides extended weekday hours through the summer, with walk-in care available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis, and same-day appointments may also be available.
“Walk-in care is just one part of how we support the Outer Cape during the busy summer months,” said Dr. Marie Constant, Chief Medical Officer at Outer Cape Health Services. “It plays an important role in helping us manage seasonal demand, offering a reliable option for care when patients might otherwise delay treatment or face long waits elsewhere.”
In addition to walk-in services, OCHS offers comprehensive primary care, behavioral health services, sexual health and HIV support, as well as assistance with health insurance enrollment.

MASSACHUSETTS — Prices for the average Massachusetts home continue to rise, with April's total reaching $630,000, a new report showed.
The Warren Group published its April home sales report, finding that the 2025 price topped the 2024 median price by $20,000, the same mark as March. So far this year, the average price of all homes sold is $25,000 more than the same period in 2024.
There were 10,348 single-family home sales in the first four months of 2025, a 2 percent increase from 2024. The median single-family home sale price increased 4.3 percent on the same basis to $600,000.
Home sales in Massachusetts are up compared to this time last year, with over 200 more homes off the market than the previous period. April didn't follow that trend, however, with slightly fewer homes selling across the Commonwealth.
In Falmouth, the median price for April fell from $819,750 in 2024 to $667,450 in 2025. The average sale price for a local home in 2025 is still up from 2024, and the $749,500 mark well outpaces the state average.
Find out what's happening in Falmouthfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
"The number of single-family home sales in April was only four less than April 2024, so just about even with last year," the Warren Group's Associate Publisher and Media Relations Director, Cassie Norton, said. "Hopefully that's an indication that the number of homes on the market is increasing and easing the inventory crunch somewhat."
Norton noted last month, however, that an increase in homes won't necessarily mean an easier time for buyers, as initially thought.
