Granite Countertops in Wellfleet, MA: The Natural Choice for Durability and Versatility
Granite is one of the most popular natural stones in the market. As an igneous rock, the granite you're considering was once molten. It was formed as it cooled inside the earth. It is quarried from the mountains of Italy, the U.S., India, Brazil, China, and dozens of other countries around the world. Here at Granite World, we are passionate about this high-quality natural stone and recommend it for a variety of installation purposes, such as kitchen countertops, floors, and other surfaces that undergo heavy usage.
Minerals within the granite look like flecks and are what give it the classic "salt and pepper" look. Other types have veining similar to marble. Generally speaking, granite is a dense-grained, hard stone that can be highly polished or finished in a variety of ways depending on your family's needs. A broad spectrum of colors is available to match the color palette and feel of your home.

What Makes Granite Counters So Popular?
Granite is a highly durable and attractive option for kitchen countertops, floors, table tops, and exterior applications like cladding and curbing. It is available in a range of colors and has been rated as the best overall performer among kitchen countertop materials by a leading consumer magazine.
Unlike synthetic surfaces, granite is incredibly resistant to scratches and heat damage. It is also highly resistant to bacteria and does not get affected by substances like citric acid, coffee, tea, alcohol, or wine. Even with regular use, granite does not stain easily and is almost impossible to scratch. If you want to enhance your granite's resistance to staining, our team can provide you with more information about sealants available on the market.

Granite World Pro Tip
When it comes to granite countertops, high-end options often equate to unique patterns and enhanced durability. However, a higher price doesn't always guarantee better quality. 3 Timeless Ways to Complement Your Granite Countertops in Wellfleet, MA
If you are looking to add a touch of elegance to your kitchen, granite countertops can be a great option. With their intricate patterns and wide range of colors, they can transform a bland cooking space into a bright and merry room. However, since granite counters often steal the proverbial show, it can be tricky to design your kitchen around them.
Keep these easy design tips from the Granite World team in mind once you settle on the color and application of your granite counters:

1. Granite Countertop Decor
Keeping your kitchen looking tidy and organized requires avoiding cluttering your countertops with too many items and decorations. However, you can still enhance the look of your kitchen by adding a few carefully selected decorative items. If your granite countertops have specks of bright colors like green or purple, you can try using appliances, flowers, or decorations in those colors to make the specks in your countertops stand out. This will add a pop of color to your kitchen and elevate its overall appearance.

2. Cabinet Color
Brown, tan, and gray hues are all very popular color choices for granite kitchen countertops. As such, it's wise to choose a cabinet color that complements the natural tones of your countertops. That way, you can avoid creating an overwhelming look in your space. A warm white or a deep, moody color can be used to highlight the beauty of the countertops. If you prefer stained cabinets, pick a shade that matches the colors of your countertops.

3. Floor Pattern
Having a bold pattern on both your countertops and your floors can make your kitchen look cluttered and overwhelming. If you have granite kitchen countertops, it's a good idea to opt for a simple floor design. Choosing a plain tile or wood floor is usually a safe and practical choice.
Quartz Countertops: Elegant Design and Easy Maintenance
Quartz is a type of igneous rock that is made up of oxygen and silicon atoms in a continuous structure of silicon-oxygen tetrahedra (SiO4). It is one of the most abundant minerals on the planet and has been used in the production of kitchen and bathroom countertops for many years. Much like granite countertops in Wellfleet, MA quartz is an excellent option as it is highly durable and requires minimal maintenance.
Why Do Homeowners in Massachusetts Love Quartz Kitchen Counters?
When it comes to stone choices for your kitchen countertops, quartz ranks among the best choices available. But why? Let's find out.

Beauty
Quartz countertops have become increasingly popular in kitchens, and for good reason. They are designed to imitate the everlasting beauty of natural stone, providing a wide range of captivating colors and patterns. Whether you prefer the sophistication of marble or the simplicity of solid colors, quartz offers endless options to match your preferences. With professional installation services from Granite World Inc., quartz kitchen countertops can effortlessly enhance the visual appeal of any room.

Durability
As a homeowner, you're probably aware of how quickly kitchen countertops can get worn out. Luckily, quartz is a material that can withstand the daily rigors of wear and tear – even if you have kids. That's because quartz is a unique blend of natural quartz crystals, resins, and pigments, making it a highly durable surface. With quartz countertops, you don't have to worry endlessly about scratches or stains ruining the beauty of your kitchen. It is a highly resistant material, making it an ideal choice for busy kitchens and bathrooms that see a lot of activity. In fact, its scratch, stain, and heat-resistant properties make it perfect for everyday use.

Easy Maintenance
It can be frustrating to spend your weekends cleaning and maintaining your countertops. However, by choosing quartz countertops, you can eliminate one task from your to-do list. Quartz surfaces are non-absorbent, meaning that liquids won't seep in, and bacteria won't be able to breed. If there are spills, cleaning them up is as easy as wiping the surface down with a mild detergent and water. There's no need to spend hours scrubbing, buffing, or polishing. As an added bonus, you won't have to worry about sealing your countertops regularly, as you would with granite or marble.
Granite World Pro Tip: Is quartz tough? Yes. Is it indestructible? Unfortunately, it is not. Quartz is a surface that can be damaged permanently by exposure to strong chemicals and solvents that can weaken its physical properties. You should avoid using products that contain trichloroethane or methylene chloride, such as paint removers or strippers. Also, stay away from any highly aggressive cleaning agents like oven or grill cleaners that have high alkaline and PH levels.

It's the beginning of August and school will be starting in a month, which means summer fun on Cape Cod is winding down.
But the sun is still shining bright and the days still long, so take advantage of the beach days ahead.
Islands, a travel publication that began in 1981, said they've found a great beach along the Cape Cod National Seashore for those who love a great view, thanks to an observation platform built there.
"From the platform, visitors can look out over the steep sand cliffs to the ocean and the bay beyond — south to Eastham and north all the way to Truro," Islands said.
Here is what Islands had to say about this Cape beach.

Islands named Marconi Beach as the best beach in the area to go to if you want to experience the Cape Cod National Seashore beaches at their biggest.
Here's what Islands said about it: "There's a $25 access fee to park at the beach's large lot in summer, and amenities include restrooms, outdoor showers, and lifeguards on patrol. Bring your own umbrella, chairs, and picnic, as there's no other infrastructure available — just a gorgeous stretch of coastline that's ideal for swimming, surfing, walking, and enjoying the scenery."
According to the National Park Service page on it, Marconi Beach is six miles north of Salt Pond Visitor Center, off of Route 6 in Wellfleet, Massachusetts.
The beach itself is located on Marconi Beach Road in Wellfleet.
"Here, the outer beach is famous for its then steep, forty-foot sand cliff (or scarp) located behind it," the park service website said. "Swimmers and beach walkers feel a sense of solitude here because the scarp and ocean provide an unbroken, pristine natural scene in all directions."
The National Park Service also said that the landscape is now home to various rare species, like the broom crowberry.
"Marconi Beach, is known for its gigantic dunes and sweeping views over the Outer Cape from a strategically positioned observation platform," Islands said.

A campground until 2028, then Wellfleet plans to build housing. 'Vibrant neighborhood'

SOUTH WELLFLEET — Plans to create housing at Maurice’s Campground center on “filling in a lot of the holes in the housing that’s available today,” said an architect involved with the master plan.
The town bought the sprawling decades-old campground in 2022 for $6.5 million that houses both seasonal workers and returning vacationers. Studio G, an architecture and design firm, was later hired to craft a master plan for the transformation of the 21.5-acre parcel between Route 6 and the Cape Cod Rail Trail into a mix of housing.
Studio G also designed the Residences at Lawrence Hill in Wellfleet.
The Cape needs both deeply affordable and attainable housing, said Gail Sullivan, founder and managing principal of Studio G on a June 23 visit to the property.
“That range creates a real neighborhood. Because it’s like any neighborhood — it’s a mix of people,” said Sullivan. “So, it’s not age-segregated housing or just family housing or just low-income housing but really, a mix of incomes, of ages, of needs, and kinds of people which really makes a vibrant neighborhood.”
Sullivan led a team that includes JM Goldson for community engagement, Langan Engineering for site planning, and Boston Communities for financial feasibility, according to the town.
The document created by Studio G includes two conceptual land use scenarios. Last month, the Select Board approved the plan’s recommendations and to move ahead with the planning.
Sullivan noted that the plan includes rendered site plans for each option, but they intentionally did not create renderings of the buildings.
“People already felt like they wanted more certainty from us than we could give them. If we had rendered buildings, that would make them think that it was done and it’s not remotely,” said Sullivan.
The town is running Maurice’s as a campground until 2028 as development plans unfold.
More on the master plan
Approximately 250 year-round units are planned for the property.
Based on public comment, the master plan lowered the height of most buildings bordering the neighbors to two stories. Three-story buildings are only at the interior of the site or along Route 6.
An additional 80 to 90 beds will be dedicated for seasonal workers, with one possibility resembling dormitories.
“Everyone wanted to make sure that the seasonal workers weren’t displaced,” said Sullivan.
Planners eyed the small cabins at the front of the site for reuse, said Sullivan, suggesting artist studios as a possibility, and also included space for commerce.
Trees, cesspools
Sullivan pointed out that the height of the pitch pines that dot the campground give the property character. She said planners have several strategies that aim to protect the existing landscape as much as possible while building housing.
“What we wanted to do is make sure not only that there’s really good buffering toward the Spring Brook Road neighborhood and also toward the Village Lane neighborhood to our south but also that we can keep clusters of these trees standing and work around it,” said Sullivan.
The property also has around 35 cesspools.
By putting in an innovative wastewater treatment facility on the property, which could serve the housing and neighboring properties, the town "could both provide housing but also make a big move toward resolving an excess nitrogen issue,” said Sullivan.
Sullivan also said the hope is that “everything built here will meet passive house standards” with a focus on dramatically lowering energy use for space heating and cooling.

The Select Board has voted to approve funding for a consultant to help develop the request for proposals for a developer. Ryan Curley, a Select Board member who chairs the Maurice’s Planning Committee, said the search for that consultant is ongoing.
A consultant has been hired to draw up the zoning for the property. The request for proposals will be released in conjunction with the zoning, he said.
“There remains a discussion on what the timeline is but the longest we envision is by spring next year,” said Curley in an email. “There is a hope to have it done sooner than that to respond to the needs that we see daily.”
Sullivan said the plans will be used as reference and more details will come into sharper focus when a developer is selected, such as the breakdown of units and the levels of affordability.
“They’re not going to parrot our plans. They’re going to come up with their own plan based on what they think they can financially do,” said Sullivan.
