Granite Countertops in West Bridgewater, MA: The Natural Choice for Durability and Versatility
Granite is one of the most popular natural stones in the market. As an igneous rock, the granite you're considering was once molten. It was formed as it cooled inside the earth. It is quarried from the mountains of Italy, the U.S., India, Brazil, China, and dozens of other countries around the world. Here at Granite World, we are passionate about this high-quality natural stone and recommend it for a variety of installation purposes, such as kitchen countertops, floors, and other surfaces that undergo heavy usage.
Minerals within the granite look like flecks and are what give it the classic "salt and pepper" look. Other types have veining similar to marble. Generally speaking, granite is a dense-grained, hard stone that can be highly polished or finished in a variety of ways depending on your family's needs. A broad spectrum of colors is available to match the color palette and feel of your home.
What Makes Granite Counters So Popular?
Granite is a highly durable and attractive option for kitchen countertops, floors, table tops, and exterior applications like cladding and curbing. It is available in a range of colors and has been rated as the best overall performer among kitchen countertop materials by a leading consumer magazine.
Unlike synthetic surfaces, granite is incredibly resistant to scratches and heat damage. It is also highly resistant to bacteria and does not get affected by substances like citric acid, coffee, tea, alcohol, or wine. Even with regular use, granite does not stain easily and is almost impossible to scratch. If you want to enhance your granite's resistance to staining, our team can provide you with more information about sealants available on the market.
Granite World Pro Tip
When it comes to granite countertops, high-end options often equate to unique patterns and enhanced durability. However, a higher price doesn't always guarantee better quality. 3 Timeless Ways to Complement Your Granite Countertops in West Bridgewater, MA
If you are looking to add a touch of elegance to your kitchen, granite countertops can be a great option. With their intricate patterns and wide range of colors, they can transform a bland cooking space into a bright and merry room. However, since granite counters often steal the proverbial show, it can be tricky to design your kitchen around them.
Keep these easy design tips from the Granite World team in mind once you settle on the color and application of your granite counters:
1. Granite Countertop Decor
Keeping your kitchen looking tidy and organized requires avoiding cluttering your countertops with too many items and decorations. However, you can still enhance the look of your kitchen by adding a few carefully selected decorative items. If your granite countertops have specks of bright colors like green or purple, you can try using appliances, flowers, or decorations in those colors to make the specks in your countertops stand out. This will add a pop of color to your kitchen and elevate its overall appearance.
2. Cabinet Color
Brown, tan, and gray hues are all very popular color choices for granite kitchen countertops. As such, it's wise to choose a cabinet color that complements the natural tones of your countertops. That way, you can avoid creating an overwhelming look in your space. A warm white or a deep, moody color can be used to highlight the beauty of the countertops. If you prefer stained cabinets, pick a shade that matches the colors of your countertops.
3. Floor Pattern
Having a bold pattern on both your countertops and your floors can make your kitchen look cluttered and overwhelming. If you have granite kitchen countertops, it's a good idea to opt for a simple floor design. Choosing a plain tile or wood floor is usually a safe and practical choice.
Quartz Countertops: Elegant Design and Easy Maintenance
Quartz is a type of igneous rock that is made up of oxygen and silicon atoms in a continuous structure of silicon-oxygen tetrahedra (SiO4). It is one of the most abundant minerals on the planet and has been used in the production of kitchen and bathroom countertops for many years. Much like granite countertops in West Bridgewater, MA quartz is an excellent option as it is highly durable and requires minimal maintenance.
Why Do Homeowners in Massachusetts Love Quartz Kitchen Counters?
When it comes to stone choices for your kitchen countertops, quartz ranks among the best choices available. But why? Let's find out.
Beauty
Quartz countertops have become increasingly popular in kitchens, and for good reason. They are designed to imitate the everlasting beauty of natural stone, providing a wide range of captivating colors and patterns. Whether you prefer the sophistication of marble or the simplicity of solid colors, quartz offers endless options to match your preferences. With professional installation services from Granite World Inc., quartz kitchen countertops can effortlessly enhance the visual appeal of any room.
Durability
As a homeowner, you're probably aware of how quickly kitchen countertops can get worn out. Luckily, quartz is a material that can withstand the daily rigors of wear and tear – even if you have kids. That's because quartz is a unique blend of natural quartz crystals, resins, and pigments, making it a highly durable surface. With quartz countertops, you don't have to worry endlessly about scratches or stains ruining the beauty of your kitchen. It is a highly resistant material, making it an ideal choice for busy kitchens and bathrooms that see a lot of activity. In fact, its scratch, stain, and heat-resistant properties make it perfect for everyday use.
Easy Maintenance
It can be frustrating to spend your weekends cleaning and maintaining your countertops. However, by choosing quartz countertops, you can eliminate one task from your to-do list. Quartz surfaces are non-absorbent, meaning that liquids won't seep in, and bacteria won't be able to breed. If there are spills, cleaning them up is as easy as wiping the surface down with a mild detergent and water. There's no need to spend hours scrubbing, buffing, or polishing. As an added bonus, you won't have to worry about sealing your countertops regularly, as you would with granite or marble.
Granite World Pro Tip: Is quartz tough? Yes. Is it indestructible? Unfortunately, it is not. Quartz is a surface that can be damaged permanently by exposure to strong chemicals and solvents that can weaken its physical properties. You should avoid using products that contain trichloroethane or methylene chloride, such as paint removers or strippers. Also, stay away from any highly aggressive cleaning agents like oven or grill cleaners that have high alkaline and PH levels.

WEST BRIDGEWATER – In a postgame meeting with his players, head coach Justin Kogler acknowledged that, though seeing the opposition hoist a trophy on their midfield logo stings, there were plenty reasons for him to be proud.
As noted, the No. 3 West Bridgewater High football team dug out of a 1-2 start and won six in a row heading into Friday night's Division 7 Elite Eight matchup against No. 6 Amesbury. The prior two losses came to South Shore League acquaintances, and proven playoff contenders, Norwell (26-14) and Rockland (27-23).
“I’m proud of this team,” Kogler said after the playoffs-ending 34-18 loss to Amesbury. “Losses to Norwell, Rockland and Amesbury – I mean, listen, I won’t be surprised if (Amesbury) is at Gillette.”
No. 6 Amesbury has to get past No. 2 Cohasset in the semifinals (time/date TBD) for that to be a possibility, though.
On Friday, the West Bridgewater defense was stuck out on the field for Amesbury's 18-play marathon of an opening drive that lasted nearly 10 minutes and spanned 59 yards. It was punctuated by a 1-yard rushing TD by sophomore QB Justin Dube at the 2:41 mark of the first quarter.
FOLLOW THE MADNESS: NCAA tournament brackets, scores, schedules, teams and more.
“That’s what their offense does. You watch it on film, they do it every week," Kogler said. "They continue to move the ball three, four, five yards at a time and they make it hard. They have guys that are fast kids, track kids, and when they get out in the open, they’re gone.”

Two of those players were Michael and Max Sanchez, each senior running back finished with two touchdowns. Max Sanchez's 79-yard TD one play after a West Bridgewater fumble propped Amesbury's cushion up to 34-12 at the end of the third quarter.
“We played hard. It was a tough matchup. The style of play really didn’t suit our strengths. We had some turnovers and that really hurt us," Kogler said. "We had three turnovers, two in the red-zone area or close to (it). That was the difference. In high school football, you turn the ball over and that’s what happens.”
Breakout sophomore running back Ty Holmes found the end zone from 4 yards out on West Bridgewater's opening drive to even things, 6-6, at the 10:41 mark of the second quarter. He finished with an unofficial total of 89 yards on 13 carries. He accounted for five touchdowns in the team's 42-21 win over Diman two weeks ago.
“Ty’s been great," Kogler said. "He runs the ball very well. He sees the hole. He’s quick. He runs hard. He’s only 160, 165 pounds but he runs like he’s 180 pounds. He’s had a great season and if he continues to work hard, he’s going to have a great career.”

Senior quarterback James Harris snuck in for a pair of TDs at the goal line, from 1 yard and 3 yards respectively. He rushed for 64 yards on 10 carries.
Harris leads a senior class that also features receiver Luke Destrampe, receiver Miguel Pleasants, receiver Sam Salter, running back/linebacker Christian Packard, linebacker Matt Murphy, defensive end Nate Frechette, and linemen Ben Neilan, Aidan Burke and Chris Flipp. The group of 10 will play its last game against Southeastern on Thanksgiving at 10 a.m.
“Very impactful. Great senior class. Great kids," Kogler said. "I love coaching them. It’s going to be sad to see them go. They’ve done everything they could do to keep this program strong.”
Forced to resign: West Bridgewater selectman accused of lying about where he lives

Anthony Kinahan strolled down the driveway, hopped in his vehicle, and began the commute to his business in Taunton.
It is a pattern the NBC10 Investigators documented day after day throughout May and June. While conducting surveillance, we observed Kinahan carrying breakfast, taking out the recycling, or sending off his wife as she left for work.
Why is this important?
At the time, Kinahan was the chair of the West Bridgewater Board of Selectmen. And all the videos we gathered during our investigation showed the elected official leaving a home in Braintree, roughly 20 miles from the West Bridgewater Town Hall.
“I just want the truth to come out,” said Jim Holden, who unsuccessfully ran against Kinahan in last year’s election.
During a candidate forum in March 2022, the topic of one of Holden’s social media posts came up, where he had raised concern about Kinahan selling his property in West Bridgewater a couple months earlier in January.
“I’m waiting for the right home for me and when I find it, I’ll buy it,” Kinahan responded. “In the meantime, I’m still residing in West Bridgewater. That’s all.”
After seeing the video, we contacted Holden to ask what he thought about his opponent’s response at the time.
“I didn’t care for it. That’s really the politest thing to say,” Holden said. “In my eyes, he was lying.”
On the April 2022 ballot, and on nomination paperwork filed with the Town, Kinahan listed his residence on Turnpike Street, according to documents we obtained via public records request.
Property records show that home has been owned by Kinahan’s cousin for nearly a decade.
“They do not check to make sure you actually live at that address,” Holden said.
When we checked the address, there was no sign of Kinahan. But we did see the cousin and her husband running errands, doing yard work, and picking up their son from school.
“I know that home is right around the corner from my office and I go by it multiple times a day. I have never seen him or his vehicle there,” said Meri Anderson, a former selectman who served a three-year term alongside Kinahan before losing her reelection bid last spring.
Anderson was the lone dissenting vote on the Board when the town administrator requested taxpayer funds be used to repair damage to his personal vehicle.
During her time in office, Anderson said she heard rumblings about whether Kinahan still lived in town. She described the situation as a “commonly known secret.”
Along with being in a position of power, the Select Board chair makes a modest annual stipend of about $3,500.
“This should be your passion,” Anderson said during an interview in late May. “I would expect him to do the right thing and declare where he’s living. And if it’s not in West Bridgewater, he should step down.”
So how serious is it if a local elected official doesn’t live in the community?
We took the issue to Suffolk University law professor, Janice Griffith, who specializes in state and local government law.
“The statute is fairly clear that when somebody removes his residence or domicile in a particular town, it’s deemed he’s vacated his office,” Griffith explained. “Basically, it’s a question of, ‘Is that their home?’ Is that where they are living? Is that where their social life is? Is that where they are most engaged with the community?”
Property records show Kinahan’s wife purchased the home on Hawthorn Road in Braintree last July. That transaction occurred just a few weeks before the couple had a destination wedding in Bermuda last August, according to a copy of the marriage certificate the NBC10 Investigators obtained on Thursday.
One thing that jumps out from the marriage certificate: Kinahan’s listed address was not located in West Bridgewater. Instead, it was a property in Dorchester owned by Kinahan’s brother, raising more questions about how long he has potentially resided outside the community he represented.
The voting history we obtained via public records request show Kinahan has cast a ballot in five local elections and one statewide election since the beginning of 2022.
We first reached out to Kinahan a month ago to let him know we were looking into allegations he did not live in West Bridgewater. He was initially unresponsive, but eventually told us that he could connect following a two-week vacation.
On Monday, we reached Kinahan by phone and requested an on-camera interview. The selectmen declined the interview, while insisting that he still lived in West Bridgewater.
We asked if Kinahan had anything to prove that he resided in town, like a utility bill. He indicated that he no longer lived at his cousin’s property and had since moved to his parents’ home a few doors down on Turnpike Street.
On Wednesday morning, we waited outside the Braintree home in an attempt to speak with Kinahan as he walked to his car. However, he exited from a different door and left in his car before we had a chance to ask any questions.
We then tried the cannabis business in Taunton that Kinahan co-owns. When he spotted our vehicle in the parking lot, he kept driving.
Later that morning, we saw Kinahan approach the business from a side street, but he hustled inside the door and did not stop when we asked him to respond to a few questions.
NBC10 then visited the cousin’s property in West Bridgewater that Kinahan had listed as his registered voting address in the last election.
When the homeowner answered the front door, we asked if Kinahan lives at the property.
“Yes,” she responded, before asking for a business card and declining to answer other questions.
By midday, Kinahan had submitted his letter of resignation, bringing his seven-year stint as selectman to an abrupt ending.
“Unfortunately, due to personal reasons I will be resigning from the Board of Selectmen effective today,” Kinahan wrote. “At this point in my life I no longer have the time that I once had to commit to this role and you deserve someone that is fully able to make this commitment as it is a vital position for the community.”
The letter did not make any mention of Kinahan’s residence. He was not present at that night’s Select Board meeting and the remaining elected officials may decide to hold a special election to fill his seat, according to the town clerk.
The story likely won’t end there.
According to a spokesperson with the Secretary of State, every town has a Board of Registrars that investigates complaints about whether someone is a registered voter in the community.
Following a hearing, the Board makes a determination. Depending on the findings, a case can be referred to authorities for further investigation. The town clerk told NBC10 Boston that any voter can file a complaint and there is no current investigation.
The Secretary of State’s office can also field written complaints and forward them to the appropriate agencies.
“I think this raises a lot of questions that we need clarification on,” Anderson said. “I’m surprised that it’s gone on this long.”

'He’s got a big heart:' 13-year-old donates nearly 3,000 socks to Brockton's homeless

BROCKTON — Matthew Navin, a seventh grader at West Bridgewater Middle-Senior High School, said no one at his school ever talks about homelessness. But from a young age, he noticed people living on the street in places like Boston, Brockton and outside Massachusetts.
“He’s got a big heart,” said his father, Mark Navin. “It started off with him asking at a young age, ‘What’s homeless mean?’”
When Matthew was 11, he started collecting socks for people experiencing homelessness in Brockton where his parents grew up.
“I wanted to give back to the community,” he said. “I thought it was something unique because I know there’s always coat drives. So, I thought of socks.
In his first year, he donated roughly 600 pairs of socks. Now, at 13, and in his third consecutive year of donating, Matthew dropped off 2,646 pairs to Brockton Mayor Robert Sullivan’s office.
Brockton’s homeless population is growing and its shelters are quickly reaching capacity, according to city officials, leaving more residents to live on the streets and brave the harsh winter and summer months.
“It’s something my son had a passion for, helping the homeless, since he was young,” Mark Navin said.

A growing collection
At first, it started by word of mouth, posting on Facebook and collecting hundreds of pairs of socks. Now, local businesses and several West Bridgewater schools keep collection boxes to receive sock donations across the community.
His family held an event at the restaurant Fresh Catch in Mansfield, where they collected over 900 pairs in one night.
His goal for the year was to collect 1,800 pairs. He ended up with almost 3,000.
Matthew said that someone from every state in New England either mailed in socks or sent him money through Venmo to purchase socks. He collects all types from infant girls to adult men.
“He knows that people live outside in the elements and they may need something a little bit thicker,” Mark Navin said. “He puts a lot of thought into what he does.”

High demand for warm socks
Matthew dropped of his nearly 3,000 pairs of socks in Brockton at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 19. By the next day, every pair had been distributed and accounted for.
Matthew said that even before he began collecting this year the day after Halloween, shelters were asking Sullivan’s office if he planned to donate socks again this year, or if there were any left over from the last year.

He’s already planning to donate again next year, and wants it to grow into something even bigger.
He said his goal now is to obtain a license that will allow him to take donations from corporations like the Boston Red Sox.
"Next year we want to grow it more," he said.

BOSTON– Marcus Partners announced that 4Wall Entertainment has signed a lease to fully occupy a brand-new 88,200 SF Class A warehouse building at 7 Manley Street in West Bridgewater, Mass.
7 Manley will represent the firm’s fourth newly constructed industrial project in Greater Boston over the past two years to be fully leased prior to completion. Marcus Partners looks to further build upon its track record in this space with a 168,000 SF project now under construction at 4 Executive Drive in Andover, Mass.
Located directly off Route 24 and currently under construction, the West Bridgewater building is expected to be completed next month. 4Wall is a full-service lighting, video, and rigging company servicing all facets of the entertainment industry – from corporate events and theatre to concert touring and television.
“It’s been a great experience working closely with the 4Wall team to provide them with a long-term home in what will be a best-in-class building,” said Marcus Partners Principal and Head of Construction Josh Berman. “This outcome validates our strategy of taking a measured approach to new industrial development where we are limiting our investment into projects that best match tenant demand (targeting tenants < 250K SF), in locations that offer superior highway access within established institutional submarkets. Our project in Andover continues that strategy.”
Once completed, the new building will provide warehouse distribution space with 36’ clear height, 12 dock doors (ability to go up to 30 docks), 1 drive-in door, 18 trailer spaces, 88 car parking spaces, and 8,000 SF of office into a new groundbreaking space for 4Wall Boston, which is currently located in Canton, MA.
Steven Way, General Manager of the 4Wall Boston location, commented on the new space, “At nearly 90,000 square feet, we will be able to increase our lighting, video, and audio inventory to service our customers better than ever. The all-new expansion is set to include multiple prep spaces, production offices, and a pre-visualization suite are all part of the plan. My team and I are very excited to move into our new home.”
Delivering at the end of 2023, the Andover site includes a new 167,610 SF building and features excellent access from Route 93, as well as potential for highway signage visibility and ample trailer and car parking.
BOSTON– JLL Capital Markets announced that it has arranged $190 million in first mortgage refinancing, led by Wells Fargo and Truist, for Legacy Place, a 675,000-square-foot, high-performing, grocery-anchored lifestyle retail center located in the western Boston suburb of Dedham, Massachusetts.
JLL worked on behalf of the borrower, WS Development and Nuveen Real Estate, to secure the loan through a two-bank syndicate.
Built from 2008 to 2009 and renovated in 2020 and 2022, Legacy Place is anchored by Whole Foods, Apple, L.L. Bean and Showcase Cinemas. The Whole Foods is the most visited location in Massachusetts, and Legacy Place as a whole is the most visited lifestyle center in New England. The property features a strong tenant mix of food and beverage, entertainment specialty retailers and digitally native brands. Notable tenants include Nike, Athleta, Industrious, Shake Shack, Lululemon, Sephora, Sweetgreen, Yard House and more.
Located at 300 Legacy Place Blvd., the center sits on 37 acres of land in the affluent Dedham sub-market, where average household incomes exceed $150,000. The intersection of I-95 (145,000 VPD) and Route 1 (45,000 VPD) provides visitors easy highway accessibility. Additionally, the property offers connectivity to downtown Boston with MBTA’s Dedham Corporate Center Commuter Rail Station 0.5 miles from the center. The center’s trade area population is approximately 1.3 million and benefits from a nearby dense and thriving residential community.
“We are extremely pleased and not surprised with the outcome and refinance execution at Legacy Place. The transaction further proves that in spite of macro-economic headwinds, large-format retail properties in premier locations with best-in-class partnerships and anchored by today’s most sought-after tenants will absolutely continue to thrive,” added Todd Rollins, who heads up acquisitions and asset management for Nuveen’s Northeast region, along with their super regional mall ventures.
The JLL Retail Capital Markets Debt Advisory team was led by Senior Managing Director Brett Paulsrud, Senior Director Henry Schaffer and Associate Hugh Doherty, with assistance from Retail Investment Sales Advisors Chris Angelone and Zach Nitsche.
“Despite the headlines in the debt markets, we’re still seeing liquidity available for best-in-class assets and sponsors, even at scale.” said Paulsrud. “Legacy Place is the premier lifestyle center in Boston’s western suburbs. The sponsor team has been extremely thoughtful in programming its tenant mix, which poises the center for continued dominance in the region for years to come.”

The agreement marks the fourth time in two years that Marcus has fully leased an industrial project in Greater Boston before it was finished, according to the Boston-based real estate developer. Marcus has focused on tenants in need of less than 250,000 square feet of space.
“This outcome validates our strategy of taking a measured approach to new industrial development, where we are limiting our investment into projects that best match tenant demand … in locations that offer superior highway access within established institutional submarkets,” Marcus principal Josh Berman said in a statement.
Marcus is now building a 168,000-square-foot industrial development in Andover, at 4 Executive Drive. Construction started at that site in February and is expected to wrap up by year’s end.
The expansion will enable 4Wall to increase its inventory, among other benefits, according to Steven Way, general manager of 4Wall’s local facility.
The West Bridgewater facility includes a 36-foot height clearance, 12 dock doors and about 8,000 square feet of office space.
